Antique Tractor/Machinery Show

Antique engines, cars, tractors, antique machinery, farm equipment and hit and miss stationary engines will be on display.

Demonstrations will be held throughout the weekend.  For more information about the tractor pull, antique machinery show or wheat threshing

Dance lessons/dance contest

Learn the basic polka dance steps and watch local experts explain the various dances, flying

Dutchman, hochziet, waltz, schottische and the traditional wedding dance. All beginners are welcome and encouraged to join in the fun.

 

Faith of the Volga Germans

Presentation about the faith of the 19th century German immigrants and their contact with the Agnesians in the United States.

Learn about the earliest Volga Germans who became Agnesians—Sisters Felicitas Dreiling from Victoria and Hortulana Leiker from Munjor.

 

Food and Craft booths

Approximately 40-50 booths will be providing crafts, food, refreshments and homemade German products.

Food booths will include Kettle corn, galuushkies, baked bread and sweet treats, funnel cakes, brats, BBQ beef sandwiches, green bean and dumpling soup,

BBQ ribs and the traditional favorite – beirocks. Local clubs and organizations will have German sausage, homemade jellies and jams, kuchen, spitzbuben, sauerkraut,

noodles and beans, cinnamon rolls, smoked meats, and dumplings.

 

Polka Mass

A traditional Catholic polka mass celebration with all the songs and hymns preformed in the familiar polka style of music. 

Father Earl Befort will be the celebrant. All are welcome to attend – come early – seating fills up quickly.

 

Prince and Princess competition

Each year a one young man and one young lady are picked as the prince and princess candidates. 

They are actually crowned at the celebration the following year. As the prince and princess candidates, they bring five new contestants to the dance contest. 

Three judges are picked out of the crowd to select the best dancers. All youth from high age and younger are encourage to join in.

  

Singerbund and German Singers

Don’t miss the reunion of the Singerbund from 1976 along with the German singers entertaining the audience with some old time favorites songs.

   

Tractor pull

All vintage tractors from 1959 and older will be allowed to pull with division I with 18”maximum hitch height rules applying.

Classes will be from 2000-10,000 pounds in 500 increments.  The entry fee will be $5 per hook and all money will be paid to the 1st and 2nd place in each respective class.

 

Wheat Threshing

A1940’s vintage John Deere 22 x 36 thresher powered by a John Deere 1948-D, owned by Lawrence J. Dreiling, will be in full operation on both days at 1pm.  The wheat comes from a local Ellis County farm and horse drawn teams will bring the bound wheat in for threshing.
